Catching A Break

Catching A Break

Happy (slightly belated) Holidays to all of my fabulous Lizteners,

I apologize for the lack of posts but these past few weeks have been quite INSANE to say the least. Nonetheless, looking bad at it I am proud of myself for completing my 5th semester at FIT with a new (and improved) major, for interning in one of the most inspiring work environments I could ever imagine and for surrounding myself with an amazing team of creative individuals who strive me to do better (every. single. day.). Is there anything in particular you’re proud of? Think about it. Don’t ever let others dim your light because they are insecure of their own actions. I was, am, and always will be a firm believer in hard work and perseverance paying off so whether you are on that journey right now or are willing to get there at some point in your life, I hope we can create a community where we can encourage each other to do great and feel great, because at the end of the day that’s all I ever wanted to accomplish through my platform in the first place. Alrighty, this is my end of year ‘feel-good-and-achieve-your-hopes-and-dreams’-kinda speech. You’re welcome.

Now that I’m finally home in Luxembourg for Winter Break, I am going to grace you guys with more content on this blog so stay tuned for that. But before I do so, these pics are from my Thanksgiving trip to Houston, Texas. Yeeehhaa baby, watch me go to the South once again and come back using ‘y’all’ like it’s second nature. I mean at this point I consider myself an honorary Texan with visiting H-Town at least once a year (fair enough, right?). Did I start eating BBQ and driving a pick-up truck? Oh hell no but I did go to my first Rodeo last year, which was as Texan of an experience as it gets (considering the fact that they made fried butter an actual food option – not judging though).

As far as my outfit goes, I decided to go with these wide-legged silk pants from Yileste that were sort-of long enough to cover my ankle sock (Before anyone’s pointing out my ‘fashion faux-pas’, I twisted my ankle while running and had to wear this sexy foot statement to protect it so hold your judgement) in which I tucked my whale-printed silk top, also from Yileste. As y’all (I had to guys) probably know, Thanksgiving is at the end of November, yet I’m wearing short sleeves so I hope that that tells you something about the temperatures in Houston… As my clothes were very easy, breezy and flow-y, I decided to add some structure to my look by adding a navy fisherman hat with pleather trimming. I matched the silver hardware from my baby blue Sac de jour with my sandals and topped it all off with my ‘collier de chien’-bracelet.

Also, can we talk about these amazing locations I shot at?! Modern, minimalist architecture is one of my great passions so when I passed that jaw-dropping, all-white office building, I just heard my camera scream out loud so I liztened ;P & threw down some of my best poses.

Lastly, if you happen to be in Houston before January 28th and appreciate the effort and detailing that goes into making breath-taking gowns, make sure you visit the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) and check out the ‘Glamour and Romance of Oscar de la Renta’ exhibition (here). High-end, luxury fashion has managed to evoke this feeling of eternal beauty and timeless elegance that I so deeply admire and value and that originally sparked my interest to work in this industry. Oscar de la Renta was one of the most talented individuals in the industry when it came to revolutionizing evening wear. Without giving away too much, I highly recommend checking this one out if you’re in the area as it beautifully depicts his evolution from working at Balenciaga, then Lanvin and later on at his own namesake fashion house.

Thank you for reading!

Love you all,

xx – Liz
